If you wish to travel further afield for a day trip or two, Beauregard is ideally placed.
Bordeaux is an hours drive north-west and offers a wealth of culture, sophistication and cosmopolitan chic. Take a detour and visit the famous wine producing town of St.Emilion .
South from Bordeaux, along the coast towards Spain, the sandy beaches and giant sand dunes of Les Landes, stretch for miles…don’t forget your surf board.
Bergerac is a 40 minute drive away and is a fascinating medieval city which has recently undergone sympathetic restoration to offer a bustling urban environment with old world charm.
Again, don’t forget to visit the famous Monbazillac Chateau.
Don’t miss the cave paintings at Lascaux and Cro-magnon caves in the Vezere valley. If you are a fan of the Clan of the Cave Bear books, you will be fascinated. You will find grottes, caves and stunning scenery. Walk in their footsteps!
Following the River Dordogne further East, you will come to the towns of Domme, Rocamodour and Roc Gageac; beautiful towns which are built into the living rock on vertical cliffs.
There are water parks, particularly popular with the children, at Bergerac and a Walibi water/theme park on the route to Agen.
Perhaps the best trips are the unplanned kind. Stick a pin in the map and explore. You are sure to be fascinated and amazed, amused and entertained, wherever you go!
